Caleb Smedra

At age six, Caleb began taking piano lessons, and his obsession with music hasn’t stopped since.  His musical journey has taken him around the world to perform at concert venues and to attend regional competitions.  Most notably, he has performed in Vienna, Austria at the home of Mozart, and in the Primate's Palace in Bratislava, Slovakia.  Caleb has won Gold in Piano Performance multiple consecutive years at Musicfest Northwest.  His piece for solo piano, Over Baltic Seas, won awards in the 2021 Piano Guild Composition Contest.  Caleb has been honored to study under many talented pianists, such as the late Dr. Jovanni Rey de Pedro, Dr. Roger McVey, Professor Robert Ward, Caytlin Reese, Christopher Norton, and Dr. Victor Labenske.

Unable to constrain his passion to music alone, Caleb pursues many other art forms.  He is a accomplished author, and has won awards for his published short fiction.  Currently, he is working on two full-length novels, a short fiction anthology, and multiple radio drama series.  His extensive experience with cinematography and videography has led him to produce and direct his own short films.  He also serves as a freelance video editor and audio engineer.  Caleb has enjoyed working alongside actors and filmmakers such as Noah and Nicole Stratton, Rich Swingle, Joey Nicotra, and Aaron Burns.  Caleb’s enthusiasm for the dramatic arts is also expressed through his varied experience in film, stage, and voice acting.

In addition to all his professional pursuits, Caleb loves to spend time in and upon the ocean.  He is an avid devotee of surfing, swimming, and sailing, and cannot seem to make up his mind between the three.  One of his dreams is to outfit a used sailboat and brave his way through the southern seas to Aotearoa...
